An exchange meeting was held on the development of outsourcing and BPO industry

The executive committee of Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BAKCO) led by President Tanveer Ibrahim and General Secretary Faisal Alim held an exchange meeting on the development of outsourcing and BPO industry with former commerce minister and BNP standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury at Hotel Sarina in the capital. .

At the meeting, BAKCO President Tanveer Ibrahim said, “Outsourcing or Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) industry is one of the export-potential sectors of Bangladesh; Because the sector has immense potential to strengthen the country's economy by earning foreign exchange and increasing export income, which has already become a steadily growing industry generating 800 million US dollars in annual revenue through the export of services to the international market. The number of people currently working in the BPO industry is more than 80000; 40 percent of whom are women. To further accelerate the development of this industry, it is necessary to increase the income tax exemption period of the IT sector, ensure uninterrupted internet services, increase the rate of export incentives/cash assistance against export income, construction of special economic zone or technology park within Dhaka for the outsourcing industry sector, branding of the outsourcing industry sector of Bangladesh globally. And taking initiatives to participate in international IT fairs. At the same time, total cooperation from all quarters is required to remove the bottlenecks in this industry”.

BAKCO General Secretary Faisal Alim said, “BAKCO is working to create new entrepreneurs and increase the skills of youth in the IT-ITES sector. As in the past, Bakko will train many more freelancers to become entrepreneurs. Amending the constitution to grant BAKCO membership to freelancers. As a result, they will soon receive BAKCO membership as Affiliate Members. We want to create employment opportunities according to the qualifications by increasing their skills so that those who were injured in the student uprising can return to normal life after recovery. In the future development of the information technology sector, we will create employment opportunities by increasing the skills of the youth, which I believe will play an important role in the economic development of the country”.

Former commerce minister and BNP standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury said, “A strong economy is needed to build a prosperous Bangladesh. We know that after the apparel industry, the information technology and outsourcing industry sector is accelerating the country's economy by earning foreign exchange. The outsourcing service sector is one area for Bangladesh that has been a beacon of hope for the country's entrepreneurs, investors, and youth over the years. I think that research needs to be funded to encourage new technology and innovative thinking, technology parks should be built with state-of-the-art facilities for the development of this industry, the country's image has been damaged in the international arena due to the shutdown of internet services in the past, so the law to ensure uninterrupted internet services to restore the country's image. need to be formulated. I am glad to know that Bakko is working on the development of freelancers. I believe that if the existing barriers of freelancers can be removed, they will contribute more significantly to the country's economy. Bakko's contribution to making this promising sector a growth stage and making it a business-friendly industry is highly commendable.”

Besides, Senior Vice President Md Abul Khair, Finance Secretary Mohammad Aminul Haque and Directors Abdul Quader, Zayed Uddin Ahmed, Mehdi Hasan Zulfikar and Saima Shawkat were present in the meeting.
